To mark forty years of the TV series, a one of a kind celebration is planned for the Motor Legend Festival, with some of the show’s stars set to attend alongside replicas of the powerful and captivating cars, not least “General Lee”, which helped make the Duke family’s adventures so unforgettable…

A kaleidoscope of passion, champions and showbiz names are set to open the event, based at the Misano World Circuit, to a wider public, children and youngsters included. A chance to combine spectacular motorsport and shows with a mini-break along the Romagnola Riviera or in the Republic of San Marino.
DUKES OF HAZZARD CELEBRATES 40 YEARS
“The Dukes of Hazzard”, the world-famous TV series that was later turned into a movie, ran from 1979 to 1985 and recounted the entertaining adventures of the Duke family in the imaginary county of Hazzard, in North American’s deep south. Young cousins Bo, Luke and the attractive Daisy, and the elderly but lively and wise Uncle Jesse made up the Duke family, long-time clandestine whisky distillers despite demonstrating healthy principles of loyalty in their daily lives. The adventures of the Duke family were set against those of county commissioner Boss Hogg, who was always mixed up in shady affairs with the reluctant involvement of the local police, or rather sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane and deputy sheriffs Enos Strate and Cletus Hogg. These were the basic ingredients for action-packed episodes that involved many breath-taking chase scenes, incredible jumps, high-speed slides and, very often, spectacular crashes. The Duke gang were often assisted in their escapades by faithful friend Cooter (Hazzard’s local mechanic) and a fantastic 69 model of Dodge Charger, known as General Lee, with which the Dukes also competed in races.
HAZZARD AND THE BOARS NEST “RECONSTRUCTED” AT THE MISANO WORLD CIRCUIT. DAISY DUKE AND COOTER TO ATTEND …
To mark the 40th anniversary of The Dukes of Hazzard, actress Catherine Bach, who starred in the show as beautiful Daisy Duke, will be in attendance at the Misano World Circuit. The denim shorts she wore in the TV series became so famous in America that one pair was exhibited in Washington’s Smithsonian Museum, the star also posing for a calendar that sold 5 million copies. Bach starred as the Duke cousin who worked as a waitress at the Boars Nest, the bar where Hazzard locals would meet to dance, listen to country music and drink beer. The “Boars Nest” will be “reconstructed”, bar and music to boot, at the Misano World Circuit.
Set to join Catherine Bach is actor Ben Jones, who played mechanic Cooter in the show. Also at the Motor Legend Festival, alongside the “Boars Nest”, will be an imitation workshop exhibiting all the cars, replicas that are faithful to the originals, starting with “General Lee”, which then, come Sunday, will take part in a parade around the Misano World Circuit racetrack, with the stars of the show and perhaps some chases between the Dodge Charger and the police cars…
Catherine Bach and Ben Jones will be at the Misano World Circuit during the afternoon of Saturday 27 April and all day on Sunday 28, with fans having the chance to get selfies, autographs and chat with the stars, as well as getting a close-up look at the amazing cars, “run ragged” on the American dirt roads around Hazzard.
Just like in the TV series, the public will be able to access the Boars Nest with their own vehicles, while a special “limited edition” ticket will allow guests to dine with the stars of The Dukes of Hazzard and also watch the music show (booking details to be released shortly).
MOTOR LEGEND FESTIVAL, A SPECTACULAR CONTAINER FOR TWO- AND FOUR-WHEELED MOTORSPORT
The “fusion” with the 40th anniversary Hazzard event and other similar initiatives still in development will not take away from the main content of the 2019 Motor Legend Festival, which comprises three days dedicated to engines and motorsport, the history, sport, traditions and legendary two and four-wheeled vehicles, on track with many great champions and well-known personalities. In fact, one of the goals of the collaboration between the organisers of the Motor Legend Festival and the Misano World Circuit is to
encourage new and young motorsport fans, with famous faces and events that nevertheless relate to the world of engines.
Event organisation thus continues at a relentless pace, the action-packed schedule gradually filling up as the 2019 Motor Legend Festival works to confirm a series of original and unique events. Examples include official testing of the FIA Master Historic Formula One, a series that, since 1994, has brought the most important F1 cars back to the track and to racing; a 40th anniversary celebration of his World Rally win and career with the Miki Biasion WRC; the 20th anniversary of the exclusive and limited-edition Pagani Zonda; the Bike Legend Meeting, with legendary champions and bikes brought together with a parade on track and an exhibition; the 55th Anniversary of the Mustang, a celebration of the legendary American sports car; the Brit Village, with “British” racing spirit and style invading the Misano World Circuit with an exhibition of the great brands and even greater vehicles that have helped shape the tradition of British motorsport, and finally Jeepers, a tribute to the off-road icon, featuring the many versions of this unstoppable “evergreen”.
For a real celebration of engines, both two- and four-wheeled, dedicated to everyone…
